AMARAVATI: Former Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh and YSR Congress Party MLA Mekathoti Sucharitha on Thursday mocked at rumours that she would be quitting the YSRCP. She asserted that she would not leave the party as long as she was in politics. The former minister came before the media to clarify this following speculation on social media platforms to this effect.

Mekathoti Sucharitha said that she would be loyal to the YS Jaganmohan Reddy-led YSRCP and would not change loyalties just to play politics.

“Jagan gave me the opportunity to be the first woman Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh. I will forever be thankful and will not change my party. Chandrababu Naidu once asked why anyone would want to be born as a Dalit. I am proud that I am a Dalit. All these rumours on social media are baseless. If anyone still has doubts, they should contact me. Jagan treated me like family and I will not betray him,” she said. Defending the State Government over the phone-tapping controversy, she said that there would be an intelligence report if anyone was involved in wrongdoing. "The Intelligence department does not need to tap anyone's phone for this," Sucharita commented.

The former Home Minister also said that the YSRCP and YS Jagan were providing good schemes to people of all sectors. “The education system in the State was reformed by YS Jagan. The aim is to provide education to all,” she said.

Sucharitha also said that she would contest in the next elections from any seat where Jagan would field her.
