KAKINADA: Kapu idealogue Mudragada Padmanabham, after daring Pawan Kalyan to defeat Kakinada Urban MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy in elections, threw an open challenge on Friday to the Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief to contest against him in Pithapuram.

Padmanabham wrote a letter again, the second one in three days, to Pawan Kalyan in which he challenged the star-turned-politician. In the first letter written on June 20, 2023, asking him to stop talking like a loose cannon and win an election for a start.

In a polite but strongly worded letter to the Power Star, Padmanabham found fault with Pawan Kalyan for leveling false allegations against him and Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara Reddy. “I was forced to write this letter to counter you and your JSP activists for the abusive remarks made against me. I am not such a person to bow down to anyone intimidated by abuse. I am neither your servant,” the former minister said.

Padmanabham described Pawan Kalyan as a ‘hero in films but a zero in politics’. He wondered why the Jana Sena chief had chosen to attack him when he expressed his personal opinion. “What is my relationship with you? Will you instigate insults from your fans and followers because you have money?” he asked. Padmanabham also questioned Pawan Kalyan’s silence in the aftermath of the Tuni train burning incident in 2016. He wondered why the Jana Sena chief had not met the innocent people who were jailed and cases were slapped against them when Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP was in power and also the followers of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga who were imprisoned after the murder of the iconic Kapu leader in 1988.

The former minister pointed out that Pawan Kalyan was aware of the fact that cases were revoked by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in connection with the Tuni train burning case, following an appeal made by the ministers from the Kapu community. “Does Pawan Kalyan or his one-man-army know who had a role in these incidents? It's not correct on the part of the actor-turned politician to make baseless allegations against me that I benefit from caste politics,” Padmanabham said.

Mudragada also took a dig at Pawan Kalyan and questioned his moral right to speak about the Kapu community. He alleged that the JSP chief never cared for Kapus and found fault with him for provoking the youth with his incendiary speeches.”If Pawan Kalyan was really committed to the welfare of Kapus, why didn’t he approach the lawyers and try for bail for the Kapu leaders who were booked for their agitation in the aftermath of the naming of the Konaseema district after Dr BR Ambedkar?’’ he questioned.

Padmanabham also lashed out at Pawan Kalyan for working against those very people who stood behind him during tough times. The former minister clarified that he was constrained to respond after Pawan Kalyan made baseless allegations against him. ‘’My relationship with MLA Chandrasekhara Reddy and his family dates back to several years. I don’t want to distance myself from them for the sake of Pawan Kalyan. The abusive remarks made by Pawan Kalyan and his followers boosted my enthusiasm to contest against him in the coming elections,” Padmanabham said.
