VIZIANAGARAM: Former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into incidents of attacks on him including the arson that took place in Angallu in Annamayya district and Punganur in Chittoor district during a party rally.

Addressing the media in Vizianagaram, Chandrababu Naidu said that an attempt was made by the ‘goons’ of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to bump him off in the streets of Angallu. Thanking the Black Cat Commandos for guarding him against a volley of stones pelted by the YCP cadre, he expressed dismay over the case slapped on him by the district police.

“It was a pre-planned attack on us. The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government is trying to intimidate us by filing false cases. The CBI investigation must find out the real people behind a series of attacks on me in recent months,” he said.

Displaying videos of a few incidents that unfolded in Angallu, he said that police failed in preventing the YCP cadre from marauding on the streets of Angallu. “Police had prior intimation on the probable trouble that day. But they feigned ignorance,” he said.
