VIJAYAWADA: The Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the attack on Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The SIT headed by a Superintendent of Police (SP) ranked officer has started collecting information about the incident. Police zeroed in on data from three cell phone towers active in the Ajit Nagar area on the day of the attack. It was found that 20,000 mobile phones were active at the time of the attack.

The Vijayawada police have identified four accused for the attack and speeded up their investigation by announcing a reward of Rs 2 lakh for vital information leading to the arrest of the accused.

The NTR District Police Department in a statement said that the information could be in the shape of video recordings shot on mobile phones or eyewitnesses who corroborate the events that led to the attack on YS Jagan while he was on ‘Memantha Siddham’ Bus Yatra in Vijayawada.

Police assured that details of the persons who furnish information about the accused will be kept confidential. The persons who have credible information could contact Kanchi Srinivasa Rao, DCP, at 9490619342 or R Srihari Babu ADCP Task Force at 9440627089. They can directly reach out to the above at their SP’s Task Force office located in Labbipet, Krishna Lanka, Vijayawada.
