NEW DELHI: A Supreme Court Bench consisting of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma adjourned the proceedings of the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Andhra Pradesh Government challenging the bail given to former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in the skill scam case and posted further hearing to December 11.

The bench made it clear that it would wait till the verdict of another SLP seeking quashing of the FIR in the skill development case was delivered. The bench directed Naidu to file a counter to the SLP on or before December 8.

Earlier, Senior Advocate Ranjit Kumar representing the State of Andhra Pradesh sought the Court to restrain Naidu from making statements in the public domain about the case. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi on behalf of the State Government questioned the AP High Court’s bail order.

"According to us, a notice should be issued. There are findings on merit in a 40-page bail order...I'll have to show the findings in a bail order! And this is a case of diversion of Rs 300 crore from public funds,” Mukul Rohatgi urged the Court to take into cognisance the comments made by the High Court on the merits of the case.

Intervening, Justice Trivedi said that the Court would let the first part of the bail (bail condition enjoining Naidu from speaking about the sub judice case in the public domain) remain, and in the second part, he could take part in rallies.
