TDP strongman’s daughter thanks YS Jagan after receiving Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena

VIZIANAGARAM: Days after the Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, announced the first instalment of financial assistance under the 'Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena' scheme, a TDP strongman expressed his delight that his daughter was chosen as one of the scheme's 213 beneficiaries on Monday.

Bodrothu Srinivasa Rao, a former sarpanch from Sangam Village in Vizianagaram district, said that his daughter Sailaja moved to the United States to pursue further education, and in order to make ends meet, he had to take out a large loan, the repayment of which was his greatest concern.

However, thanks to Chief Minister Jagan Reddy's groundbreaking education programmes, Srinivasa Rao's daughter was scheduled to receive nearly Rs 84 lakh in financial aid over the next two years under the Jagananna Videshi Vidya Devana scheme. She was one among the 213 recipients. The first instalment of financial assistance was approximately Rs 13,99,154, and a total of 84 lakh would be granted over the next two years.

TDP strongman Srinivasa Rao said, "My daughter studied at IIT in Hyderabad and travelled to the US.We took out a loan for her education and were concerned about our ability to repay it. However, my daughter received aid today through the Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena Scheme. We will be eternally grateful to Jagananna. He is a revolutionary leader whose sole concern is the welfare of the people. Now, I want my daughter to finish her studies and return to Andhra Pradesh to help the state's growth with CM Jagan."

Sailaja, who is currently pursuing her Masters degree at the University of Washington in Seattle, conveyed her gratitude to the Chief Minister. "It is only because of you that students are able to pursue a privileged Masters degree like this. Thank you so much for this opportunity. This is among the top 100 universities of the world. Am really happy to be here.Thank You so much Chief Minister garu," she said.

What is Videshi Vidya Deevena

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy believes that the largest investment should be made in education and the development of a strong and capable human capital to transform the fate of Andhra Pradesh.

The Andhra Pradesh government would pay tuition expenses to SC, ST, BC, and minority students up to Rs 1.25 crore under the Videshi Vidya Deevena plan, and EBC students up to Rs 1 crore under the Videshi Vidya Deevena scheme.

Similarly, SC, ST, BC, and minority students would receive 100 percent tuition price reimbursement up to Rs 75 lakh, while EBC students would receive up to Rs 50 lakh or 50 percent of the tuition cost, whichever was smaller, if they were admitted to universities ranked 100 to 200 in the QS World University rankings.

Financial aid was provided in the form of reimbursement for expenses such as airfare and visa fees. The first payment would be paid following the students' receipt of their I-94 cards; the second payment would be made following the results of the first semester; and the third payment would be made following the completion of the second and third semesters. According to the criteria, the candidate's annual family income should not exceed Rs 8 lakh.
