VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Botcha Satyanarayana took strong exception to the remarks made by a section of people against the State Government for the delay in payment of salaries to the teachers.

Satyanarayana participated in the Teachers Day celebrations held at Andhra University (AU) Convention hall here on Tuesday. The Minister said that due to a technical issue there was a delay in payment of salaries to the teachers in the State and efforts were being made to credit their salaries by September 7 or 8, 2023.

"There has been no recruitment for universities in the State for many years. The previous Governments did not think about this. Recently, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has focused on the appointments and asked for the recruitment of 3,200 posts,” Satyanarayana said. Necessary steps were being taken to fill the vacancies in all the Universities in a month, he added.

The Minister said that the education reforms brought by the Chief Minister were role models for the other States in the country. Around Rs 12,000 crore was spent by the State Government on education in the State during the last four-and-a-half years. During his recent visit to the State, Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan heaped praise on the bilingual textbooks for students introduced by the Government, he said, and added that even NITI Ayog also suggested examining the education reforms brought by the Andhra Pradesh Government.

Later, Satyanarayana gave away the awards to the best teachers. Minister for Industries Gudivada Amarnath and deputy chief minister Budi Mutyala Naidu were also present.
