HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday served notice to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Disproportionate Assets (DA) case in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by former MP Harirama Joagaiah.

A High Court bench consisting of justices Alok Aradhe and NV Shravan Kumar took into cognizance the amendments filed by Harirama Jogaiah to consider his appeal as a PIL. An inquiry was conducted on the objections raised by the registry to consider it as a PIL.

After considering the amendments to the PIL, the High Court agreed with the arguments of Harirama Jogaiah's lawyer Polishetty Radhakrishna. The High Court bench agreed to consider it as a PIL and ordered the registry to assign a number to Harirama Jogaiah's PIL. Subsequently, the High Court issued notices to YS Jagan, the CBI, and the CBI court as respondents.

In June, Harirama Jogaiah filed a PIL and sought the Telangana High Court to expedite the hearing in the Disproportionate Assets (DA) case of YS Jagan in the CBI court before the next Assembly elections. However, the High Court registry objected that there was no public interest in the PIL filed by Harirama Jogaiah. Recently, the High Court directed the former MP to amend the affidavit and gave him two weeks time in this regard.
