HYDERABAD: Setting the tone for the ensuing elections in Andhra Pradesh, a Times Now Navbharat survey has predicted a clean sweep by the ruling YSRCP if the Lok Sabha polls are held now in the State. The survey claimed that the ruling party would win 24 to 25 Lok Sabha seats while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Jana Sena Party (JSP) would draw a blank. If the YSRCP ended up with 24 out of the total 25 seats, then the TDP would have the consolation of winning the only other seat, it said.

The Times Now-Navbharat survey findings came in as a shot in the arm for the ruling party’s rank and file and is likely to bolster its ‘why not 175’ campaign, invoked by the party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The performance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be mere pedestrian in Andhra Pradesh even though the survey predicted a third consecutive victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre.

The ‘Jan Gan Ka Man’ survey was conducted during the last week of June 2023 to guage the mood of the voters all across the country. An effort was made to fathom the changing perception of the electorate and also the winning political parties in the sibling states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

While the survey confirmed a hat-trick for the BJP’s Narendra Modi-led NDA at the Centre, the ruling parties in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are destined to emerge victorious over their opponents by winning the majority seats in the Lok Sabha elections.

The YSRCP will continue its victory march by garnering 51 percent of votes to 24-25 seats, which will mark a definite increase from its 2019 tally of 22 seats. The TDP, which is hoping for a huge turnaround this time, will have to contend with 31 percent of vote share and, at the most, can win only one seat, the survey predicted. The Jana Sena Party will also fall flat in making its mark and will be nowhere in the reckoning just like its ‘alliance partner’, the BJP. This will be a shocking piece of revelation, given the fact that the survey was conducted around the same time when the likelihood of a loose poll understanding between the TDP and the Jana Sena began appearing on the horizon.

In Telangana too, the survey foresees the continuation of the magic of K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), as per the findings of the Times Now Navbharat survey, will win more than 50 percent of the Lok Sabha seats (9-11 seats out of 17). At the national level, the survey predicted 285-325 seats for the BJP-led NDA, 111-149 seats for the Congress-led opposition combine, 20-22 seats for the TMC, 12-14 for the Biju Janata Dal, 4-7 for AAP and 18-38 for other political parties.

If these predictions prove right, the YSRCP will emerge as the third largest entity in the Lok Sabha, only after the NDA and the Congress-led opposition alliance.
