TIRUMALA: Following the accident involving an electric bus on the Tirumala-Tirupati ghat road on Wednesday, the TTD has decided to build a concrete retaining wall on the Tirumala to Tirupati downhill ghat road section also.

TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy visited the accident site on Thursday and reviewed the issues connected with the accident. He directed the officials to conduct an inquiry into the bus accident and submit a detailed report.

Later speaking to the media, he said that a retaining wall would be built on the downhill ghat road where the accident occurred. He also said that the manufacturer of the bus and the APSRTC officials had told him that there was no technical fault.

“But we must rule out over-speeding and human error has to be probed,” Subba Reddy added. The Chairman said that none of the devotees was injured by the grace of Lord Venkateswara and the APSRTC made all alternative arrangements to ensure safe transportation of the passengers to Tirupati.

He said that officials concerned had been instructed to give more training to drivers on electric buses and ensure the safety of passengers.

TTD Chief Vigilance and Safety Officer Narasimha Kishore, Transport GM Shesha Reddy, APSRTC Regional Manager Chengal Reddy and electric bus manufacturing company representatives were also present.
