Visakhapatnam Port Authority handles record 4.02 lakh MT cargo in single day

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has created history and set a new record by handling 4,01,875 metric tonnes of cargo on a single day on June 17, 2023. The VPA has used 23 ships through various berths to achieve the record.
This is being seen as the highest-ever cargo handling by Visakhapatnam Port Authority since its inception surpassing the previous record registered on 07-05-2023 wherein 3,78,760 metric tonnes of cargo was handled by 27 ships through various berths of the port.
Addressing the staff, Visakhapatnam Port Authority Chairman Dr M Angamuthu appreciated Port Traffic Manager Ratna Shekhar and staff for achieving new records for Visakhapatnam Port and wished that the employees would strive more and scale newer heights in the future.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman Durgesh Kumar Dubey and Secretary T Venugopal praised the traffic department staff for their efforts in achieving this feat.
