AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday said that it would give a decision on interim orders only after examining the case diary of TDP Politburo member and former minister Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu, who was arrested earlier in the day for alleged encroachment of a two-cent land. The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan court rejected the remand plea of the CID for Ayyannaptrudu.

The Court directed the CID to place the case diary before it by 10.30 am on Friday.

After the arrest of Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu and his son Rajesh, CID DIG Sunil Naik on Thursday said that the arrests were made as per law, after receiving formal complaints against Ayyanna and conducting a detailed investigation.

He said that Ayyannapatrudu, along with his two sons Chintakayala Vijay and Chintakayala Rajesh, occupied a two-cent land. The DIG asserted that the signature of the executive engineer and the NOC for the land were both fake.

Sunil Naik said that after receiving a complaint, they conducted an investigation with an inspector-level officer for almost a month without arresting the accused as he was a reputed political leader. He said the investigation revealed that the allegations levelled against Ayyannapatrudu and his sons were true.

He said that the two cents land, currently occupied by them, was in the name of Chintakayala Vijay and that cases were registered based on the report submitted by the inspector. He said the accused could be sentenced to more than 10 years of imprisonment.

Speaking about rumours that the police manhandled Ayyanna while arresting him and that the arrest was made in the midnight, Sunil Naik said that the arrest was not made during the night and that they did not manhandle or ill-treat him. He said that they had the power to forcibly arrest those who did not cooperate with the police.
