West Godavari: Two years after love marriage, man stabs wife to death on road

ELURU: Over two years after their love marriage, a man brutally stabbed his wife to death in broad daylight over some dispute in the family. The incident took place in Akividu in West Godavari district on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as V Sandhya Rani and the accused was her husband Rambabu. According to reports, Sandhya Rani married Rambabu two years ago. Four months ago, Rambabu was caught by the police in a chain-snatching case. Since then, disputes arose between the couple and they decided to part ways. Sandhya Rani's and Rambabu family held discussions with them and a divorce petition was filed in court.

Since then, Sandhya Rani was staying away from Rambabu and working in a private company in Vijayawada. She came to Akividu on Saturday to spend time with her family during the weekend. Upon obtaining information about Sandhya Rani’s visit to the town, Rambabu met her on the road while she was on her way to the temple on a two-wheeler. At that moment, Rambabu convinced her to chat for a while. In between the conversation, Rambabu brutally stabbed her to death and fled from the spot.

Locals noticed Sandhya Rani lying in a pool of blood and alerted her family members and police. A team of police personnel rushed to the crime spot. The police registered a case and further investigation was underway into the incident.
