VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy laid a foundation stone for the construction of the State’s first Inorbit Mall at Kailasapuram in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

At a programme organised in Visakhapatnam, YS Jagan along with President of the K Raheja Group Neel Rahaja laid the foundation and unveiled the plaque for the Inorbit Mall coming up in the port city. K Raheja Group would be investing Rs 600 crore in the construction of Inorbit Mall, which covers 6 lakh square feet.

“The construction of Inorbit Mall in an area of 13 acres in Visakhapatnam will add another feather to its cap and help the port city to witness rapid development on all fronts. As many as 8,000 people will directly or indirectly get employment opportunities once the Inorbit Mall comes into operation,” YS Jagan said.

YS Jagan said that Inorbit Mall in Hyderabad was built in an area of 7 to 8 acres, but the facility coming up in Visakhapatnam would be built in 12 to 13 acres and was slated to become the biggest shopping mall in South India. The Chief Minister said that K Raheja Group would develop IT space and an international convention centre in the rest of the four acres in the second phase in which 3,000 people would get employment.

Apart from that, K Raheja Group had also expressed interest to build super luxurious Raj Vilas type hospitality facilities in Visakhapatnam, where May Fair and Oberoi Hotel groups were building 7-star hotels and resorts, YS Jagan said.

“During my last visit to Visakhapatnam, I laid foundation for Bhogapuram International airport, Adani Data centre and Mulapeta sea port in Srikakulam district. With the Inorbit Mall coming up to the port city, the North Andhra will develop on all fronts,” YS Jagan said. He said Raheja Group had been allotted 350 acres at Hindupur in Anantapur district for setting up a textile and electronic hardware hub which would provide employment to about 15,000 people.

On that occasion, YS Jagan made it clear that the State Government was just a phone call away to solve problems of the industrialists. All the necessary support would be given to K Raheja Group in the execution of its projects in the State, YS Jagan said.

Later, the Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for nearly 50 development works amounting to Rs 138 crore which are yet to be taken up by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC). YS Jagan inaugurated development works at Andhra University including Element Pharma Incubation and Bio Monitoring Hub, Tech Startup Incubation Centre I-Hub, AU Digital Zone and smart classroom complex-Alogrithm, AU School of International Business, and AU Avanti Aquaculture Innovation Skill Hub.
