YS Jagan releases Rs 109 crore for Rythu Bharosa to 1.46 lakh tenant farmers

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has released a financial assistance of Rs 109 crore under YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme to as many as 1,46,324 tenant farmers at his camp office in Tadepalli on Friday.

The assistance would be directly credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The Chief Minister also credited Rs 11 crore to as many as 11,373 farmers as input subsidy to compensate for crop losses totalling financial assistance of Rs 120.75 crore for landless farmers from SC, ST, and minority communities and also for those farmers cultivating temple lands.

It was significant to note that the Andhra Pradesh Government was the first in the country to release such assistance. In this year alone, the State Government provided assistance worth Rs 3,943 crore and benefited as many as 52,57,263 farmers. In the last five years, the YSRCP Government had spent more than Rs 31,000 crore on farmers’ welfare.

Elaborating on this unique scheme, YS Jagan said, “After assuming power, our Government has given financial assistance of Rs 13,500 annually to farmers under the YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme. The amount for the same is disbursed in three installments. While the first installment of Rs 7,500 is released every May, the second installment of Rs 4,000 is disbursed in October and the final installment of Rs 2,000 is released in January.”

While addressing the beneficiaries through a virtual meeting at his camp office in Tadepalli, YS Jagan said that so far, as many as 5,38,227 tenant farmers belonging to SC, ST, BC and minority communities and as many as 3,99,321 forest land cultivators were given investment assistance of Rs 1,122.85 crore. The State Government was also quick to offer Rs 38 crore assistance to the farmers who were affected by the Godavari floods, he said.

Allaying all fears of the farmer community, the Chief Minister said, “No matter what crop is planted, crop insurance is guaranteed under the YSRCP Government. We never hesitated to spend Rs 1,700 crores to upgrade our feeders in order to provide uninterrupted electricity for nine hours during the day for our farmers. The revolutionary changes that we have brought in the agricultural sector over the last four years are unique and received applause from other States.”

Taking a dig at TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu’s regime, YS Jagan said, “We have come a really long way. From not giving MSP (minimum support price) at the time of grain purchase back during the TDP regime, to now, where we are proactive in giving MSP, and paying for gunny bags and labor transport to the farmers at the rate of Rs 10,000 per acre.”
