YS Jagan sets up panel to visit train accident site in Odisha

The Chief Minister held a high-level meeting with CMO officials here on Saturday and reviewed the situation

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed shock over the train mishap in Odisha and has formed a high-level IAS officers committee under the aegis of IT Minister G.Amarnath, who visited the site of the Coromandel Express train accident, which resulted in the loss of hundreds of human lives and injuries to passengers.

The Chief Minister held a high-level meeting with CMO officials here on Saturday and reviewed the situation. He directed them to be in touch with the officials of the Odisha CMO and Railway Department. He told them to establish enquiry and grievance cells in the offices of district collectors to deal with grievances and respond immediately.

The IAS Officers Committee, consisting of Civil Supplies Commissioner Arun Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Anand, and Srikakulam Joint Collector Naveen, along with the Minister Amarnath, would visit accident spots in Odisha and extend help in relief and rescue operations.

The Chief Minister also asked the officials to make arrangements in the hospitals of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam districts to treat the injured, provide medical treatment, and also keep ambulances ready. He also directed them to keep him informed of the latest developments.

He chaired a high-level review meeting on the Odisha train accident on Saturday.

The Chief Minister asked that hospitals along Odisha's borders, including Visakhapatnam, to be prepared to provide emergency medical attention to the injured.

The Chief Minister directed that ambulances be kept available in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and other areas near Odisha's borders in case of an emergency. State Minister Gudivada Amarnath led a team of three IAS officers to the spot.
