YS Jagan to inaugurate global irrigation meet in Visakhapatnam on November 2

The international event being hosted in India after six decades would witness representation from 90 countries

VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will inaugurate and participate in the 25th Congress of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) and 75th International Executive Council meeting of ICID being held in Visakhapatnam from November 2 to November 8, 2023.

Joint Collector KS Viswanathan on Saturday said that the international event being hosted in India after six decades would witness representation from 90 countries. About 300 delegates from these countries would discuss important issues relating to irrigation and conservation of water bodies, he said, and added that the delegates would be taken to Araku and Thatipudi reservoirs as a part of the study tour.

The JC said that the Chief Minister would attend the programme being held under the aegis of the Indian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (INCID). The ICID Congress is a major triennial event to discuss and develop solutions to current global issues in the field. In 2021, the 72nd IEC meeting held in Marrakesh, Morocco, and the 5th African Regional Conference approved to host the 25th Congress and 75th IEC in Visakhapatnam, he said.
