VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy extended a warm welcome to the Governor-designate of Andhra Pradesh Justice (Retired) S Abdul Nazeer and his wife at the Gannavaram airport here on Wednesday evening.
Hours after giving a warm send-off to outgoing Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan, the Chief Minister welcomed the new Governor-designate for the state. Prior to his appointment to the gubernatorial position, Justice S Abdul Nazeer was a Supreme Court judge. He retired on January 4, 2023 after serving a six-year term at the apex court.
Justice Nazeer was recently appointed as the new Governor of Andhra Pradesh even as his predecessor Biswabhushan Harichandan was posted as Chhattisgarh Governor. Justice Nazeer will be formally sworn in on February 24, 2023 and assume the charge as the Andhra Pradesh Governor.
Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh, DGP KV Rajendranath Reddy and senior officials accompanied the Chief Minister to the airport to receive the new Governor.
Later, a formal welcoming ceremony was also organised by the Andhra Pradesh Government in honour of the new Governor-designate.
