VIJAYAWADA: In a significant development in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, the accused turned approver Dastagiri has filed a petition in the High Court against TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, YS Sunitha, and YS Sharmila, alleging the exploitation of murder case for political gains. Dastagiri, in his petition accused YS Sharmila, BTech Ravi, N Chandrababu Naidu, and YS Sunitha of using the sensitive case for political mileage, despite the election code being in effect.

Dastagiri raised objections to the powerpoint presentation of information related to the murder case during the election period, citing violations of election regulations. Furthermore, he named ABN TV and TV5 as respondents for allegedly telecasting repetitive news coverage on the matter.

Expressing strong disapproval of YS Sharmila's political address in Kadapa as the Congress party president, Dastagiri has urged the Election Commission to promptly register a case against the implicated individuals and take necessary actions. He emphasized the potential escalation of the murder case as a serious issue, cautioning against the misuse of political platforms for personal agendas.

Dastagiri's in his petition sought the High Court's immediate directives to the Election Commission to enforce restrictions on political speeches regarding the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case and to refrain from media coverage until the conclusion of the election. He said that the propaganda on YS Vivekananda Reddy is causing havoc to him as he is being the candidate contesting in the Assembly elections.

He has accused the TDP of leveraging the case for vested political interests and demanded accountability from YS Sunitha, YS Sharmila, and B.Tech Ravi for allegedly inciting murder-related discussions in violation of electoral regulations.

Dastagiri expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of response from Election Commission despite several appeals and reiterated that the EC should take quick action. Meanwhile, lawyer Jada Shravan Kumar will represent him and argue in the State High Court on behalf of Dastagiri.
