HYDERABAD: Beleaguered YSRCP MP from Kadapa YS Avinash Reddy on Tuesday approached the Telangana High Court again in connection with the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, this time seeking anticipatory bail.

He filed the petition for anticipatory bail amid speculation in some sections that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the murder case, might proceed to arrest him soon. Incidentally, YS Avinash Reddy’s attempt to secure an anticipatory bail comes a day after the Supreme Court expressed its displeasure over the tardy investigation into the sensational murder and directed the CBI to replace the current investigation officer Ram Singh.

In his petition filed on Tuesday, the Kadapa MP reportedly expressed the apprehension that he might be arrested by the CBI during the course of his questioning and sought an anticipatory bail. It is learnt that, like he did in his previous petitions to the courts and letters to the investigating agency, he raised suspicions on the fairness of the CBI’s investigation besides accusing the agency of its attempts to implicate him in the case. He also reportedly incorporated some crucial information which he claims will help the CBI unravel the truth in the case if they were investigated.

The CBI has questioned the Kadapa MP, a cousin of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, four times so far in the case. In his previous petition, YS Avinash Reddy sought the Telangana High Court’s intervention to restrain the CBI from taking any extreme steps against him. While expressing its inability to do so, the High Court has directed the CBI to audio- and video-record the MP’s questioning and that he be quizzed in the presence of his advocate.

YS Avinash Reddy feels that he was being harassed by the CBI in the name of questioning and that the agency was not paying heed to the crucial points he brought to its notice to unravel the truth. He has been constantly alleging that the CBI investigation was not going in the right direction and that an attempt was being made to implicate him in the case while the real culprits were being shielded from the investigation.
