HYDERABAD: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has recently arrested YSRCP MP from Kadapa YS Avinash Reddy in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case. He was however immediately released on personal sureties as he was earlier granted an anticipatory bail by the Telangana High Court.

According to reports, YS Avinash Reddy was arrested on June 3, 2023 when he appeared before the CBI for questioning. He was immediately released on two sureties of Rs 5 lakh each on the same day. The probe agency however kept the ‘formal arrest’ of the MP under tight wraps and news came to the fore only on Thursday.

The Telangana High Court granted the anticipatory bail to YS Avinash Reddy on May 31, 2023 while directing the MP to appear before the CBI on every Saturday for questioning and extend his cooperation. The CBI accuses the Kadapa MP and his father YS Bhaskar Reddy and a few others of their involvement in the sensational murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy a few years ago. The Telangana High Court, in its order granting anticipatory bail, also said that, in case the CBI wanted to arrest the YSRCP leader, he should be released on bail on furnishing a personal bond to the tune of Rs 5 lakh and two sureties for the same sum, to the best satisfaction of the probe agency.

With YS Avinash Reddy fulfilling these bail conditions, he was immediately released on bail on June 3, the reports claim.

Meanwhile, Dr Sunitha Reddy, the daughter of slain former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy has once again approached the Supreme Court challenging the Telangana High Court order granting anticipatory bail to YS Avinash Reddy. A Supreme Court vacation bench is expected to hear her petition in which she found fault with the Telangana High Court’s discretion.
