HYDERABAD: In a big twist to the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing it, has mentioned, for the first time, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy in a fresh additional counter affidavit filed before the Telangana High Court vacation bench.

In the additional affidavit, a copy of which Newstap has accessed, the CBI has made a sensational claim that YS Jaganmohan Reddy was informed about the death of his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy, much before the news was broken to the outside world by the slain former minister’s PA M V Krishna Reddy.

While listing out the ‘fresh grounds’ for it to oppose the anticipatory bail to YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy, the CBI, in its additional affidavit, said: “It is submitted that further investigation on the larger conspiracy aspect revealed that Shri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the present CM of Andhra Pradesh, had been informed about the death of Shri YS Vivekananda Reddy in the early hours of 15-03-2019, much before the information about the death of Shri YS Vivekananda Reddy broke out by M. V. Krishna Reddy at around 06:15 A.M on 15-03-2019. Since Shri YS Avinash Reddy was active before and after the commission of murder, his role in informing about the death of Shri YS Vivekananda Reddy to Shri YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is to be investigated.”

The latest sensational claim of the CBI has the potential to cause tremors in the political circles of the two Telugu states even as the investigating agency will have to corroborate it with clinching evidence. Nevertheless, this is the first time that the probe agency has mentioned YS Jagan’s name as part of its insinuations about the larger conspiracy of the sensational murder.
