HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court will hear the anticipatory bail petition of beleaguered YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy, in connection with the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, on Thursday. The matter was not listed for Wednesday despite the High Court judge informing the Kadapa MP’s advocates to this effect on Tuesday.

When raised by YS Avinash Reddy’s lawyers as soon as the court began its session on Thursday, the high court judge expressed the inability to take up cases that were not listed for the day. Reacting to this, Avinash Reddy’s counsel requested the high court to take up the petition for hearing on Thursday to which the judge consented.

Accordingly, the High Court decided to hear the petition at 3 pm on Thursday, April 27, 2023. The Telangana High Court has in the past granted interim relief to YS Avinash Reddy while posting his petition for anticipatory bail to April 25, 2023. But, the Supreme Court set aside the interim relief to Avinash Reddy while finding fault with the Telangana High Court’s discretion in doing so. It also took exception to the Telangana High Court’s direction to the CBI to give a written questionnaire to the Kadapa MP during questioning.

Against this backdrop, all eyes are now glued to the Telangana High Court to see what would be its final verdict in the anticipatory bail petition of YS Avinash Reddy.

Meanwhile, a CBI court in Hyderabad on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of Uday Kumar Reddy, one of the accused in the YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case by another 10 days. The CBI officials brought him from the Chanchalguda central jail to the court as his earlier remand was set to expire on Wednesday.

After he was produced before it, the CBI court extended his judicial remand until May 10, 2023. Uday Kumar Reddy was later shifted back to the prison.
