HYDERABAD: Dastagiri, the accused-turned-approver in YS Vivekananda Reddy murder case, has approached the High Court objecting the screening of the movie 'Vivekam', which delves into the backdrop of the murder. The petitioner expressed deep concerns over the mention of his name in the film, citing potential misrepresentation based on his statement.

Dastagiri vehemently opposed the screening of the film, particularly during the ongoing investigation of the case in the CBI court. In his petition, Dastagiri held Nara Lokesh of the TDP as the respondent, alleging political motives behind the movie's release.

The petitioner raised alarm over the film's purported availability on various Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms with the backing of a faction supporting the iTDP. Dastagiri urgently requested the court to halt the movie's screening, emphasising the potential violation of his rights as an MLA candidate from Pulivendula.

Moreover, Dastagiri contended that the film's release would contravene the norms set by the Censor Board, further underscoring the urgency of intervention from the Election Commission to address the matter promptly.

Renowned advocate Jada Shravan Kumar is set to represent the petitioner in the upcoming legal proceedings. Dastagiri explicitly accused the TDP of orchestrating the film's release for political gains, asserting that the screening was intended to malign his reputation and influence the electoral process in Pulivendula.

The petitioner sought swift directives from the High Court to all respondents involved in the film's production and distribution, highlighting the need for immediate action to prevent any potential harm or misinformation stemming from the movie's portrayal.
