YSRCP appoints MP Adala Prabhakara Reddy as Nellore Rural incharge

AMARAVATI: Proving the speculations right, YSRCP President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday appointed Adala Prabhakara Reddy as party's incharge for the Nellore Rural Assembly constituency. Prabhakar Reddy is YSRCP's MP in Lok Sabha representing Nellore.

Prabhakara Reddy and party senior leader Balineni Srinivasa Reddy met YS Jagan at the latter's camp office in Tadepalli on Thursday afternoon. Soon after their meeting, Party General Secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy announced the appointment of Adala Prabhakara Reddy as Nellore Rural Assembly constituency incharge.

His appointment was being anticipated ever since Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy came out into the open and revolted against the party and YS Jagan. It is however not clear as yet if Prabhakar Reddy would be fielded for the Assembly from Nellore Rural in the next elections or this is a stop-gap arrangement to scout for a suitable alternative to Sridhar Reddy. As per the popular perception within the ruling party, persons appointed as incharge of constituencies are eventually nominated as thw candidates for those seats.

Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, who has been unhappy with the party leadership for ignoring him during the reshuffle of the council of ministers, has alleged that his phone was being tapped by the intelligence department. Claiming that he was being snooped on at the behest of YS Jagan and Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, he announced on Wednesday that he would contest on a TDP ticket from Nellore Rural constituency in the next elections.

Incidentally, the YSRCP leadership has been considering the appointment of a constituency incharge here for some time but kept exercising restraint in Sridhar Reddy's case. The party had been suspecting him of covertly working and making statements, largely in the interest of the TDP. Now that he opened up about his intentions, the party has quickly appointed an incharge for the Assembly constituency to focus on its mission there.
