AMARAVATI: YSR Congress Party spokesperson Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to act impartially regarding reported irregularities during the simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh on May 13.

In a post on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), Ramakrishna Reddy raised several questions concerning the case against YSRCP MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, who is accused of damaging an EVM machine in Macherla.

He said that while Pinnelli deals with the charges legally, the YSRCP has certain questions that the Election Commission must address. "If the Palvai gate video is from the official webcasting source (which is the EC's exclusive property), how did it get leaked, and why did the EC move so hastily without checking the authenticity of the video?"

Further, he said that while the commission acknowledges that seven instances of EVM damages occurred in the Macherla constituency, what is holding the EC back from releasing all of them in full so that the culprits are exposed, and appropriate action is taken?

"More importantly, in the videos attached below, there is clear evidence of TDP goons attacking innocent voters. Why has no action been initiated in these instances?" he asked.

Ramakrishna Reddy strongly urged the ECI to consider all instances of electoral indiscipline in a fair and non-partisan manner and initiate appropriate action so that the commission's role as an impartial umpire is upheld.
