11 TDP men booked in Ramakuppam, Chandrababu stages sit-in

KUPPAM: The police on Thursday registered cases against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders in Ramakuppam under various sections following the clashes between the YSRCP and TDP cadres in the wake of TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu's visit to his constituency. The police registered cases against former MLC Gourivani Srinivasulu and eight others.

The cases were booked based on a complaint lodged by YSRCP activist Ganesh. The police have registered cases under sections 143, 147, 148, 149, 424 along with an attempt to murder case and another under the Prevention of SC, ST atrocities Act against 11 persons.

Meanwhile, Kuppam turned into a battlefield with YSRCP and TDP calling for protests on Thursday. There was tension near the statues of NTR and YSR. The YSRCP activists tore the flexi banner near the Anna canteen and attacked the workers there even as the TDP activists retaliated by tearing down the flexi near the YSR statue. Chandrababu staged a sit-in to register his protest over the behaviour of YSRCP workers in front of the Anna canteen.
