AP Minister enquires about Kovvur food poisoning; scotches rumours on immersions

KOVVUR: Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Taneti Vanitha, who is currently in the US, on Wednesday reacted to the food poisoning incident that occurred at Vishwasai Nursing Home in Kovvur, West Godavari district. She reportedly called the authorities concerned and enquired about the incident.

Ten students fell ill after consuming the food on Wednesday, the home minister was informed by the officials during a phone call. The DMHO said that eight students were discharged while the other two students were receiving treatment. Reportedly, the two students are also suffering from severe fever. However, the minister directed the medical staff and authorities to provide the best medical help to the students.

Meanwhile, the home minister fumed over the spreading of false news regarding the Ganesh immersions in Kovvur. False news stating that police have instructed the pandal organizers to carry out immersions was circulating in the town. The minister clarified that no such instructions were given and asserted that it was all false propaganda against the police on social media. "Some sections of people are distorting the police instructions and creating unnecessary confusion amongst the public," said Taneti Vanitha. She also directed the police to take strict action against those who incite religious hatred and distort peace and harmony of the state.
