Chandrababu urges Centre to install Alluri's statue in Parliament

Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Prakash Birla urging them to install a statue of revolutionary freedom fighter Alluri Sitaramaraju in Parliament on the occasion of Alluri's 125th birth anniversary celebrations.

AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Prakash Birla urging them to install a statue of revolutionary freedom fighter Alluri Sitaramaraju in Parliament on the occasion of Alluri's 125th birth anniversary celebrations.

He said that the inclusion of Alluri in the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a matter of pride for the Telugu land. He reminded that the Vajpayee Government had taken the decision to set up the Alluri Sitaramaraju statue in Parliament. He said that there was a delay in the installation of the Alluri statue due to the change of governments at the Centre and the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.

As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the tribal hero Alluri Sitaramaraju's birth anniversary celebrations will be held in Bhimavaram. Prime Minister Modi will unveil the statue of Alluri Sitaramaraju on this occasion. In celebration of Alluri's 125th birth anniversary, various programs will be organized throughout the year in collaboration with the state government.
