Jagan disburses Rs 137 crore to new beneficiaries

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday released funds meant to be distributed to new beneficiaries of various welfare schemes in the state. The Chief Minister disclosed that the decision had been taken to provide an opportunity to those who were not covered so far under the gamut of the schemes for various reasons.

As part of this initiative, a total of Rs 137 crore were disbursed to 3,39,096 new beneficiaries under 12 schemes by pressing the computer button. The schemes are ABC Nestam, Jagananna Chedodu, YSR Matsyakara Bharosa, input subsidy for farmers, Jagananna Vidya Deevena, Jagananna Vasati Deevena, YSR Sunna Vaddi, YSR Sunna Vaddi Pantarunalu, YSR Kapu Nestam, YSR Vahana Mitra and YSR Netanna Nestham schemes.

YS Jagan emphasised that the government aimed to benefit as many people as possible. Orders were issued for sanctioning 7,051 new rice cards and 3,035 new Aarogyasri cards. Besides this, pensions were given to 2,99,085 new beneficiaries, he said. He said that additional assistance for pension would be increased every year.

Deputy Chief Minister (Panchayati raj, Rural Development Department) Boody Muthyala Naidu, Municipal and Urban Development Minister Adimulapu Suresh, Civil Affairs Minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao, Municipal and Urban Development Special Textiles Principal Secretary K Sunitha, Higher Education Principal Secretary J Shyamala Rao and other senior officials were present at the event.
