Lakshmi Parvathi wants Junior NTR to take over TDP

TIRUPATI: AP Telugu Academy Chairperson Lakshmi Parvathi desired on Wednesday that Junior NTR should lead the Telugu Desham Party (TDP). Speaking to the media at the Tirupati Press Club, she made this comment.

She also expressed the confidence that her wish would come true and the actor would take over the reins of the party, founded by legendary actor and former chief minister N T Rama Rao. The widow of NTR also conveyed her best wishes to the actor.

Lakshmi Parvathi's remarks assumes significance in the wake of the much-talked about meeting of the Tollywood actor with Union Home Minister and BJP strongman Amit Shah in Hyderabad during his recent visit to Telangana. The meeting, though described as a courtesy interaction, sparked fresh speculation on the possibility of Junior NTR's future political plans.

Interestingly, this is not the first time Lakshmi Parvathi made such a demand. She is bitterly opposed to TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and unable to forget the infamous August coup that dethroned NTR from the chief minister's position. She has been frequently voicing her opinion that Jr NTR was best suited to take over the party which, she alleges, lost its glory under Chandrababu Naidu.
