AMARAVATI: YSR Congress MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju, skipped participating in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's programme of unveiling of Alluri Sitarama Raju's statue in Bhimavaram on Monday. Raju along with his followers boarded Narsapur Express in Lingampally station to reach Bhimavaram on Sunday night.

However, he got down at Begumpet station stating that he was being followed by AP police.

Following this, Raju's followers staged a dharna and the video was released on social media.

The MP made relentless attempts to attend Modi's programme in Bihamavaram which is part of his Narsapur Lok Sabha constituency. He filed several petitions in the High Court in the last one week and secured permission to attend the programme. The court directed the state administration not to arrest Raju during the visit.

Meanwhile, Raghurama Krishnam Raju wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and complained that his name was not on the Bhimavaram tour list. He said that the authorities did not include his name as a local MP in that list and accused the state government of obstructing him from attending the event. He reminded that as per the protocol, the local MP should welcome the Prime Minister and mentioned in the letter that he could not participate in the program as he was not invited.
