VISAKHAPATNAM: A major disaster was averted to an express train travelling from Visakhapatnam to Kirandul after fire broke out in a bizarre fashion in the early hours of Saturday.

According to reports, a huge tree fell on the high-tension power supply line above the track leading to a short circuit that caused a huge ball of fire. The incident happened just when the train was passing under it. However, the incident caused no casualties, much to the relief of the passengers and the railway authorities. They were reported to have quickly disembarked the train as soon as it came to a halt.

According to the railway officials, the incident happened between Tyda-Chimidipally stations in Ananthagiri Mandal.

The location where the train was stopped was part of a dense forest area and the passengers after getting down the train had to spend anxious moments with no one around really to come to their rescue. The railway officials, with their teams, reached the spot quickly and carried out the repair works. The train had to halt there for three hours until the power supply was restored and later departed to its destination.
