VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy released financial assistance to beneficiaries of YSR Vahana Mitra for the year 2022-23 in Visakhapatnam on Friday. A total of Rs.261.51 crore was deposited directly into the accounts at the rate of Rs.10,000 for each beneficiary. In four installments, the government has so far distributed Rs.1,026 crore to eligible auto, taxi and maxi-cab driver under the 'YSR Vahana Mitra' scheme.

After releasing the cash incentive, YS Jagan visited the stalls set up at the AU Engineering Ground. He also participated in a photo session with some of the beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that his government is providing the YSR Vahana Mitra financial assistance for the fourth consecutive year. "Like nowhere else in the country, we are extending this financial aid to all those who own a vehicle," he stated.

Referring to his basket of welfare initiatives, he sought to remind the people that in the last three years, Rs 1.65 lakh crore have been directly deposited into the accounts of beneficiaries under various schemes. He said all this is happening without any scope for corruption or discrimination anywhere.

The AP Chief Minister wants people to see the difference.

YS Jagan urged people to recognize the vast difference between his government and the previous government in implementing poll promises. He said he had kept his promise and launched the Vahana Mitra scheme within four months of coming to power.

"Even during the COVID-19 crisis, despite crippling finances, my government distributed the Vahana Mitra assistance. About 2.60 lakh drivers in the state are getting benefitted from this initiative. Still, our borrowing position remains far better than the previous regime. And we are able to bestow the fruits of all welfare measures on you without fail. During the previous government the priority was to plunder the state. Whereas, we are transferring the money directly to your bank accounts," he said.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy used this platform to once again speak about the failure of the previous TDP government in implementing welfare schemes. He slammed Chandrababu Naidu and the section of the media that he often refers to as 'yellow media', accusing them of spewing venom on the government day in and day out by distorting facts.
