HYDERABAD: Noted producer KL Damodar Prasad aka Damu became the new president of the Telugu Film Producer’s Council. He represented Dil Raju's panel. Damu (339 votes) defeated Gemini Kiran (315 votes) of C. Kalyan's panel by just 24 votes. There was a neck-to-neck competition between both candidates till the end.

Y. Supriya and K. Ashok Kumar were unanimously elected as the Vice-Presidents of the council. T. Prasanna Kumar and YVS Chowdhary of C. Kalyan's panel were elected as the honorary secretaries. Bharath Chowdary of Dil Raju's panel and independent candidate Natti Kumar got elected as the joint secretaries.

15 members were elected as a part of the Executive Committee. They are Dil Raju, DVV Danayya, Yelamanchili Ravi Shankar, N. Padmini, B. Venu Gopal, Surender Reddy Y, Gopi Achanta, Tagore Madhu, Keshava Rao, Vajja Srinivasa Rao, Abhishek Agarwal, Thota Krishna, Pratani Rama Krishna Goud and Poosala Kishore.

Both panels took this election prestigiously and worked relentlessly for victory for the last few weeks. There was an anti-incumbency wave against the previous president C. Kalyan for missing his power and also delaying the elections. Eventually, the candidate from his panel lost the presidential poll.

Around 1200 members of the council including bigwigs like Dil Raju, Ashwini Dutt, Ravi Shankar Yelamanchili, Tagore Madhu, C. Kalyan, Naga Babu, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore and Posani Krishna Murali exercised their votes today. The polling was held till 4 pm. The counting began a few minutes after the polling.
