HYDERABAD: In a moment of pride for the Film Federation of India picked the survival thriller "2018: Everyone is a Hero" as India's entry for the 2024 Oscars in September 2023. The film, which had captivated audiences since its release in May 2023, brought joy to the entire team and garnered enthusiasm from film enthusiasts nationwide.

However, the optimism was met with disappointment when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the shortlist for the 96th Academy Awards. Regrettably, "2018" failed to secure a place in the International Feature Film category, leaving fans disheartened by the news.

This survival thriller boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Lal, Narain, Aparna Balamurali, Kalayirasan, Aju Varghese, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Kunchacko Boban, and others in pivotal roles.

Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, the film was produced by Venu Kunnappilly, CK Padma Kumar, and Anto Joseph, with Nobin Paul crafting the captivating soundtrack that added to the film's overall impact. Despite the setback in the Oscar race, "2018" remains a notable entry in Indian cinema, earning praise for its compelling storytelling and strong performances.
