Veteran director Mani Ratnam tested positive for COVID-19. He was busy with the post-production works of his upcoming film Ponniyin Selvan part: 1 for the last few months. He was last seen at the teaser launch event of Ponniyin Selvan on July 8.

According to the sources, the director took a COVID-19 test after feeling uneasy and developing a few symptoms. When it is confirmed that he got infected with the virus, Mani Ratnam got admitted to a private hospital in Chennai.

Reportedly, his health condition is stable and there is nothing to worry about. Meanwhile, fans and his industry colleagues are sending prayers for Mani Ratnam's speedy recovery.

Ponniyin Selvan part: 1 is gearing up for a worldwide release on September 30. It features Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Rahman and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. It is based on the novel of the same title. AR Rahman is composing the music for it.
