HYDERABAD: SS Rajamouli's RRR is competing in the Best Song category at the upcoming Academy Awards. For the last few months, the film's team has been promoting it aggressively in the Hollywood market and brought international visibility as well.

Meanwhile, veteran filmmaker Tammareddy Bharadwaj made a controversial statement about the RRR's historic feat. Speaking at a recent event, he said that RRR's makers spent more than Rs. 80 crores for the film's Oscar campaign. "If you gave that money to us, we would have made 8 films and thrown them at you," he went on to add.

These harsh statements didn't go well with many audiences and other members of the Telugu film industry. They have criticised Bharadwaj for their rude statements.

Now, another veteran filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao also took a dig at Bharadwaj's statements. He questioned whether Bharadwaj can show accounts proof for the 80 crores expenditure.

"My dear friend Bharadwaj, We should feel proud of the recognition that Telugu cinema, Telugu director, Telugu actors and Telugu literature is getting. Do you have accounts to show that 80 crores are spent on marketing? Are you saying that people like Steven Spielberg and James Cameron are praising our film by taking money," wrote Raghavendra Rao in an open letter.

On the other side, Tammareddy Bharadwaj is yet to respond to Raghavendra Rao's criticism.
