HYDERABAD: Rashmika Mandanna has been deeply distressed by a morphed video of her that has gone viral on social media. The video was created using deep fake technology, which raises significant concerns about identity theft and misuse of technology.

Rashmika took to social media to express her distress, emphasizing the urgency to address this issue and prevent others from becoming victims of such incidents.

She shared her emotional turmoil, stating that discussing the deep fake video has been a painful experience for her. Rashmika highlighted that the misuse of technology is alarming, not just for her, but for everyone, as it has broader implications.

This incident serves as a reminder of the potential risks associated with emerging technologies like deep fake, which can be used to create deceptive content and manipulate identities.

"I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused.

Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this.

We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft." wrote Rashmika, on social media.
