HYDERABAD: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan honored Golden Globe award-winning and Oscar-nominated song ‘Naatu Naatu’s composer and lyricist MM Keeravani and Chandrabose at the Republic Day function in Hyderabad. Keeravani is set to receive the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honor in India, as the Government of India released the list of Padma awardees for this year.

Keeravani expressed his gratitude in a tweet, saying he is honored to receive the civilian award and pays respect to his parents and mentors. This news comes a day after RRR earned an official Oscar nomination for its song ‘Naatu Naatu’ in the ‘Best Original Song’ category.

The song had previously won the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award in the same category. RRR also won the ‘Best Foreign Language Film’ at the Critics Choice Award.

The song "Naatu Naatu" from the film RRR has been nominated for an Oscar in the category of Best Original Song. This is no surprise as the song has already won a Golden Globe in the same category. The song will be competing against four other nominated songs for the award. This is a notable achievement for Indian cinema as RRR is one of only three Indian films to be nominated for an Oscar this year.
