Rihanna congratulates RRR team after losing Golden Globes 2023 to 'Naatu Naatu'

HYDERABAD: Robyn Rihanna Fenty, a Hollywood actress and singer, congratulated the RRR crew at the Golden Globes on Wednesday after the film's song 'Naatu Naatu' received the Best Original Song award.

The American singer was seen gesturing and waving towards the table where the RRR director and actors were seated. Rihanna's 'Lift Me Up' from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was also nominated in the same category.

Other nominees in the segment included Taylor Swift's Carolina (Where the Crawdads Sing), Ciao Papa (Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio), Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick, a collaboration between Lady Gaga, BloodPop, and Benjamin Rice and Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Goransson.

Congratulatory messages were seen pouring in for ‘RRR’ team on social media from across the world since 'Natu Natu' song became the first Asian song to win a Golden Globe award.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and congratulated the RRR team, "A very special accomplishment! Compliments to @mmkeeravaani, Prem Rakshith, Kaala Bhairava, Chandrabose, @Rahulsipligunj. I also congratulate @ssrajamouli, @tarak9999, @AlwaysRamCharan and the entire team of @RRRMovie. This prestigious honour has made every Indian very proud".

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, in a tweet, expressed his joy at RRR winning the Golden Globes 2023 award and congratulated the whole team on this achievement.

“The #Telugu flag is flying high! On behalf of all of #AndhraPradesh, I congratulate @mmkeeravaani, @ssrajamouli, @tarak9999, @AlwaysRamCharan and the entire team of @RRRMovie. We are incredibly proud of you!,” read his tweet.

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president Nara Chandrababu Naidu tweeted, "Delighted to learn that @RRRMovie has won the #GoldenGlobes    Award for Best Original Song! Congratulations to @mmkeeravaani, @ssrajamouli and the entire team! Absolutely proud! Like I said earlier, Telugu has now become the language of Indian soft power".

Amitabh Bachchan, the Bollywood megastar, took to Twitter and Instagram to express his appreciation for celebratory messages in Telugu, writing, "Congratulations, RRR, on receiving the Golden Globe Award... a well-deserved honour. The RRR crew made the entire country proud ".

Megastar Chiranjeevi congratulated the RRR team saying, "What a Phenomenal, Historic Achievement. Golden Globes Best Original Song - Motion Picture Award to @mmkeeravaani garu !! Take a Bow! Heartiest Congratulations Team @RRRMovie & @ssrajamouli !!India is proud of you".

Shekar Kapur, an Indian filmmaker, tweeted, "Congratulations to @ssrajamouli and the #RRR music team for winning best song at the #GoldenGlobes2023 for #natunatu... you beat out Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift. So be proud of what you've accomplished ".

Mahesh Babu, the superstar, tweeted, "Watching the world cheer for an Indian film is a dream come true!! This year couldn't have started on a better note! Congratulations the entire team of #RRR... Many more to come".

Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra, tweeted, "Dance, and the world dances with you. Thank you, #RRR, and #NaatuNaatu, for winning the #GoldenGlobes and demonstrating what India's global brand should be: a country that can motivate people to sing and dance together. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam".

Former Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu said on Twitter, "Every Indian is proud of the international acclaim for the #NaatuNaatu song from #RRRMovie. Congratulations to ace music composer Keeravani Garu and the RRR team on winning the #GoldenGlobes2023 Award for best original song ".
