HYDERABAD: According to recent reports, "RRR," the much-anticipated film directed by Rajamouli, was re-released in the United States as part of its awards campaign. The movie's song "Naatu Naatu" had been nominated for Best Original Song, and the team hoped to generate buzz and excitement for the film ahead of the Oscars.

Despite its initial success, "RRR" failed to make a significant impact during its re-release, earning only $191k across 283 theaters, mostly located in Los Angeles. It is worth noting that the final earnings could be higher, taking into account non-reported locations, which would bring the total to around $200k.

Interestingly, despite the buzz surrounding the film, the majority of the audience still consisted of NTR and Ram Charan fans, who were eagerly waiting to watch the film on the big screen once again. This indicates that the movie may have already reached its core audience during its initial release, and the re-release may not have brought in many new viewers.

While it's hard to say what exactly caused the re-release to underperform, some speculate that the movie's story and themes may have had limited appeal to American audiences. However, the fact that "RRR" grossed $14.3 million during its initial release in 2022, and now stands at $14.5 million in total gross, is still impressive.
