HYDERABAD: RRR is inching closer towards India's Oscar dream. It is already known that the makers of RRR are intensively campaigning for the film for the upcoming Oscars. Recently, the Academy has announced shortlists in 10 categories. RRR's super hit song 'Naatu Naatu' has made it to the shortlist of the Best Music (Original Song) category).

Naatu Naatu will be competing against 14 other songs from various films like Amsterdam, Avatar: The Way of Water, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Pinocchio, Top Gun: Maverick and White Noise. The final list of nominations will be announced on January 24, 2023. Naatu Naatu is just a step away from that incredible achievement.

Naatu Naatu also happens to be the first Indian song to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards. Announcing Naatu Naatu's shortlist entry, RRR's official Twitter handle wrote, "Here we go… #NaatuNaatu becomes the first Indian song to be shortlisted for the Academy Awards! THANK YOU everyone for supporting us throughout our journey."

Naatu Naatu was composed by MM Keeravani and sung by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairavaa. Directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR featured Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles.
