HYDERABAD: The Tollywood drug case took a significant turn in 2018 when six cases were filed against several celebrities. Now, the court ruled that no evidence was found linking the celebrities to drug use. Since 2018, the Telugu film industry has been under scrutiny by the Excise department, and many celebrities, including Puri Jagannath, Charmee, Tarun, Navdeep, Ravi Teja, Shyam K Naidu, Mumait Khan, and Tanish, were implicated in the drug case.

However, the special investigation team (SIT) set up by the government focused on the drug case failed to yield results despite months of interrogations. The individuals involved underwent extensive questioning, and samples of hair and nails were collected for analysis.

Only the samples of Puri Jagannath and Tarun were sent to the forensic lab, where it was determined that there were no traces of drugs in their bodies.

Additionally, the court found that the authorities did not follow proper procedures in handling the drug case. As a result, the excise branch faced criticism in court, and it was concluded that no evidence was found in any of the cases.

This comes as a big relief to Telugu film industry which is constantly subjected to these drugs cases.
