HYDERABAD: Arundhati is a landmark film in the horror genre of Telugu cinema. Directed by Kodi Rama Krishna, this film featured Anushka in the titular role. Arundhati made Anushka a Superstar in Telugu cinema. She attained overnight stardom with this movie. But do you know that Mamta Mohandas was supposed to do that role? Surprisingly, she rejected it when the film was offered to her.

Mamta revealed this fact in a recent interview. She said that Arundhati was supposed to be her first film in Telugu. But she rejected it as she was scared to do such a film for her debut in Telugu.

Later, she was offered Yama Donga by Rajamouli. It went on to become her first project in Tollywood. Mamta revealed that Rajamouli told her that Arundhati was the right choice for her debut and she made a mistake by rejecting it.
