HYDERABAD: A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men who also threatened her with deadly weapons - they were under the influence of marijuana — in Meerpet Police Station limits at Saroornagar of Hyderabad.

According to police, the 16-year-old girl belonging to Lal Darwaja had recently come to a colony in Meerpet after her parents passed away and was working at a garment shop in Dilsuknagar, while her younger brother was working in a flexi store.

On Monday at 9 am, when the girl was at home with her brother and three other children, a gang of eight, under the influence of alcohol, broke into the house and took her to the third floor of the building and three of the accused assaulted her in the presence of others. However, the victim's sister learned about the incident and immediately reported it to the Meerpet police who registered a case. The police arrested four accused and started search for the remaining suspects.

Meanwhile, the girl was taken to the Sakhi Center for a medical examination. The victim's brother briefed the police that one of the accused, Tyson, a known criminal from Mangalahat, resided on the lower floor of the building where the girl lived. He also informed the police about the two other accused who lived nearby.

The incident caused an uproar and concern among the locals who expressed their anger over the repeated rape cases, despite strict laws and police protection. The locals are demanding that the authorities conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
