HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police have said that the killing of an eight-year-old boy, Abdul Waheed, in Alluddin Koti under Sanathnagar police station limits is not a case of human sacrifice, but is suspected to be due to family rivalry.

The murder was initially suspected to be a case of ‘human sacrifice ritual’ and created a sensation in Sanathnagar. However, Balanagar DCP Srinivas said that the initial suspicion wasn’t correct and pointed out that it was a murder over a financial dispute.

Disclosing the details, the DCP said that Wasim Khan, a garment trader lived with his family in Allauddin Koti in Sanathanagar Industrial Estate. Wasim Khan deposited money with Fiza Khan who was running a chit fund. However, as Fiza Khan did not return the money, there were quarrels for some time between the duo and an argument ensued between them on Thursday as well.

A four-member gang abducted Abdul Waheed and took him to Fiza Khan's house. Wasim Khan, upon realising that his son went missing, lodged a complaint with the police in the night. The police arrested the five accused after retrieving the CCTV footage. Based on the information provided by them, the police searched at a nala near Jinkalavada where the dead body was dumped.

The police recovered the body in a plastic bag and noticed that the boy was brutally murdered. The police found that the boy’s bones were broken into pieces. The police registered a murder case and are investigating it further.

Meanwhile, Telangana Animal Husbandry and Cinematography minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Friday met the family members of the boy and consoled them. The unconsolably wailing members of the bereaved family explained to the minister about the incident.

Srinivas Yadav said that it’s not a case of human sacrifice, but the boy was murdered following financial dispute between the two families in the Sanathnagar Basti. The minister was enraged over the killing of the boy and said that it was a heinous act, which left everybody in a state of shock.

Expressing his anguish over the incident, the minister said that the boy, who was on Roza as part of Ramadan month, was brutally murdered. He said that the culprits would be punished severely and the police would ensure that the accused would get a capital punishment.

The minister, who is also the Sanathnagar MLA, said that the case would be sent to fast-track courts for a quick trial and assured the support of the government to the kin of Abdul Waheed.
