HYDERABAD: Cyber Crime PS, Hyderabad has apprehended a person namely Surendra Choudary a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan, for creating a fake Website in the name of Indian National Congress as Donate INC which looks similar to the genuine website of INC (DonateINC), and cheated the public. People who believed it to be a genuine website have donated money.

On January 10, 2024, the police received a complaint from representatives of Congress that, cyber fraudsters and imposters created fake donation profiles of their political party. They also noticed that certain content was circulating on social media platforms like WhatsApp and others by using their party name INC.

The Congress party also stated that the fraudsters stole the charity amount by using a fake logo of their organisation. There was an apprehension that a criminal conspiracy of imposters fabricated their logo and deliberately circulated it to malign the Congress party.

A case was registered under sections 66(C), 66(D) IT Act & 420 IPC and the police started investigating. After detecting and identifying the details of the accused a team proceeded to Rajasthan, apprehended the accused, brought him in transit warrant, and was sent for judicial remand.

The team headed by Padma, inspector, and supported by K. Madhusudhan Rao, inspector under the direct supervision of ACP cyber crimes R.G.Shivmaruthi, and D Kavitha, DCP, cyber crimes have apprehended the accused.
