HYDERABAD: The Afzalganj Police unravelled a theft case within five hours after receiving the complaint from the victim and handed over the money.

According to the police, Singirikonda Vamsi Krishna, the owner of Mamata Silk Center in Suryapet, had come to Hyderabad on August 10 with a cash of Rs. 2.25 lakh and was heading to Dharmavaram of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh from MGBS bus station to purchase sarees on August 12.

Upon arrival at the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) at 5 am on August 12, Vamsi Krishna placed the bag on the toilet wall and went inside to freshen up. When he returned, he found that his bag was missing and immediately approached the Afzalganj Police and lodged a complaint.

A team of police under the supervision of Afzalganj DSI P. Ramkishan visited the crime scene and collected CCTV footage, which revealed that an individual aged between 50-55 years had stolen the cash bag and boarded a bus.

The police team investigated the matter and discovered that the accused had got down at Attapur. They immediately reached Attapur, conducted a thorough search, and successfully recovered the stolen bag containing Rs. 2 lakh cash from the accused.

The same was handed over to Vamsi Krishna. They arrested the accused and launched an investigation.
