HYDERABAD: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) floor leader and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi expressed concerns on Tuesday about the current state of the country. He raised fears about his safety if he were to be imprisoned, suggesting that he could be poisoned to death.

Owaisi said, "The current situation is troubling; we don’t know if I might be poisoned in jail, or if both Asaduddin Owaisi and I could be shot dead while being transported to a hospital."

Speaking at an Eid Milap meeting in Yakutpura, Owaisi indirectly referenced the death of Mukhtar Ansari in Uttar Pradesh. He added, "I hope and am confident this won't happen, but we cannot predict whether Asaduddin Owaisi and I will be shot dead during a hospital transfer."

Owaisi said that they are not afraid of such threats and will remain undeterred. He asserted that they cannot be defeated regardless of the obstacles placed in their way. His remarks have since gone viral on social media.

In response to Owaisi's comments, BJP's Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh accused him of attempting to gain voters' sympathy through his remarks about fake death threats, "Instead of discussing AIMIM's accomplishments and future plans for Hyderabad, Akbaruddin spoke about fake death threats to sway voters. Once BJP forms the government in Telangana after the next four years, we will deal with the Owaisi brothers. We will keep these two brothers at bay once BJP forms the government in Telangana."
